In a unique agenda, the events after the KCA AGM were planned to be lucrative for the members to attend despite the inclement weather on Sunday, September 11 at Konkan Samudhai Bhavan. The AGM was followed by the presentation of the Manik Lifetime Achievement Award, intended for individuals of our Mangalorean community who are successfully accomplished in the field of education, healthcare, music and fine arts, literature, social service, entrepreneurship, public service, philanthropy, and sustainability, and who have had a significant impact on a large number of individual organizations.
While it was certainly an incredible task for the judging committee, the newly elected KCA president, Adrian D’Souza’s announcement to confer the prestigious award to the highly accomplished and multifaceted, Robinson D’Souza received thunderous applause from the gathered members.
Germany’s DB Schenker plans to acquire companies in India to expand operations with a focus on building end-to-end contract logistics operations and picking up a larger share of delivery contracts from e-commerce players.

Governor Thawarchand Gehlot has appointed Dr Cynthia Menezes as the Vice-Chancellor of Bangalore University with effect from Friday, June 10.
Dr Cynthia is a native of Mangaluru and is the Director of the MBA Department and the Dean of the faculty of Commerce at Canara Bank School of Management Studies of Bengaluru.

It was a 21 day challenge.. One poem each day to be submitted by 12 o'clock at midnight.. The title "World through my Glasses"
The award was presented by the Arch Bishop Peter Machado of Bangalore. Two awards in two days won by Nishad for an All India Business plan competition held by KE ( Kanara Entrepreneurs) There were 80 participants from all over India and he came second. It was also in association with the Catholic council of India. The second was for All India design competition and he won it for his company Xamplay.. Award received by his co partner Dion D'sa
Congratulations Dear Olga D'Costa, on winning the Badminton bronze medal for India in the above 75 years category at the recently concluded World Senior Badminton Championships at Huelva 21 ,Spain !

LEADING LADY ENTREPRENEURS OF SOUTHEAST ASIA
TechNode Global has put together a list of 50 top emerging women led startups in Southeast Asia. Anushka (Elsa) Verghese, w/o John Gonsalves (KCA Member) and Daughter in Law of Brig Gerald (Ex KCA President) and Christine Gonsalves is listed 20th in this prestigious list. She is the co founder of 'Smarten Spaces' which is an end to end Artificial Intelligence (AI) platform rated amongst the first three in the USA. She too has an Army background as her father is Col John Verghese. After an illustrious student career, she joined CISCO, where she rose to higher echelons of R&D. Soon she set out on her own together with her co-worker to establish their new firm. Though still very young, she has taken the company to great heights by her dedication, intelligence and hard work, and she is destined for greater achievements in the future.
CAPT. SACHIN R SEQUEIRA AWARDED SHAURYA CHAKRA
“Capt Sachin R Sequeira, son of Archie and Dr. Thelma Sequeira, is currently appointed as the Commanding Officer of INS Kochi. During the recent cyclonic storm Tauktae in the North Arabian Sea, INS Kochi, under his able leadership, undertook Search and Rescue Operations, in extremely challenging weather and sea conditions, resulting in saving over 125 lives from the stricken Barge P 305 at the Offshore Development Area (ODA).
This brave act of leadership and courage was in keeping with the ethos of the Navy and in service of the Nation in times of peril and adversity. For his extraordinary bravery, courageous leadership, exemplary grit and determination, in the face of extremely challenging conditions, the officer is recommended for the award.”
